Topology optimization of magnetic cores for WPT using the geometry projection method

Purpose The purpose of this study is to search for an optimal core shape that robust against misalignment between the transmitting and receiving coils wireless power transfer (WPT) device. During optimization process, authors maximize coupling coefficients while minimizing leakage flux around ensure safety WPT Design/methodology/approach In study, a novel topology method devices using geometry projection proposed optimize magnetic shape. This facilitates generation bar-shaped cores because material distribution represented by set elementary bars. Findings It shown optimized shape, which obtained through optimization, effectively increases net interlinked with coil outperforms conventional core.
